Yakima Tieton Irrigation Elections

All interested candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy/Petition of Nomination

no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6th, 2025.

NOMINATIONS

Pursuant to Washington State Law, the Yakima Tieton Irrigation District (YTID) annual election will be held on December 9th, 2025.  There is one Board of Director position open this year. The term for each seat is three years, beginning on Tuesday, January 6,  2026.

All interested candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy / Petition of Nomination no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6th, 2025.  Necessary forms and further information and instructions are in the 2025 Nomination packet below.  

Candidates will be announced at the Board meeting on Thursday, October 16th, after which the names of the candidates will be posted on the YTID website. VOTING IN PERSON

Polls will be open on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the YTID Administrative office located at 470 Camp 4 Rd., Yakima, WA. 98908.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Any qualified district elector who certifies that he or she cannot be present to vote in person on N/A, may vote by absentee ballot per RCW 87.03.032. To receive an absentee ballot, a completed and signed request must be submitted. 

REQUEST FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT

ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS WILL BE FILLED AFTER BALLOTS HAVE BEEN PRINTED IN NOVEMBER, THROUGH DECEMBER 8TH, 2025. REQUESTED BALLOTS WILL BE SENT BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE TO ELIGIBLE ELECTORS FROM WHOM COMPLETED AND SIGNED REQUEST FORMS ARE RECEIVED IN PERSON, BY MAIL, OR BY EMAIL TO HOOD@YTID.NET. ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL NOT BE ISSUED ON ELECTION DAY. SEE BELOW TO PRINT OFF AN ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM:

YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION MAKES NO GUARANTEE OF TIMELY MAIL DELIVERY AND RECOMMENDS THAT ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS BE MAILED OR DELIVERED TO YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE OF THE ELECTION.

TO BE COUNTED, ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED TO YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION DISTRICT AS EXPLAINED IN THE SECTION BELOW.  


ELECTORS PLANNING TO CAST BALLOTS FOR A SPOUSE OR FOR A CORPORATION, GENERAL PARTNERSHIP, LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, LIMITED-LIABILITY CORPORATION OR OTHER LEGAL ENTITY SHOULD CONSULT RCW 87.03-051. THE FOLLOWING AUTHORIZATION FORMS CAN BE PRINTED, COMPLETED, SIGNED AND SUBMITTED WITH YOUR REQUEST FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM, IF APPLICABLE:

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS TO BE COUNTED

To be counted, absentee ballots must conform to statutory requirements pursuant to RCW 87.03.033.

1.) Upon receipt of the ballot, you will proceed to mark the same in accordance with the instructions contained on the ballot. You will enclose and seal the ballot(s) (only) in the smaller envelope. 

2.) Complete the Certificate of Absentee Voter and sign your name as registered. Enclose both the absentee voter form and the smaller envelope that contains the ballot, into the larger envelope. If the ballot is to be mailed, please place correct postage required and place in post office box so it will be postmarked no later than midnight on the election day and received by the Secretary of the District within seven (7) days of the election day. If the ballot is not mailed, it must be delivered to the Yakima Tieton Irrigation District Headquarters located at 470 Camp 4 Rd, Yakima, WA. 98908 prior to the close of polls on the day of election.
