John C. Turner II was certified the winner of the Board of Directors election held on December 11, 2025. John's term will begin on January 6th. (The first Tuesday in January 2026.)

NOMINATIONS

Pursuant to Washington State Law, the Yakima Tieton Irrigation District (YTID) annual election will be held on December xxth, 202x.  There is one Board of Director position open this year. The term for each seat is three years, beginning on Tuesday, January x,  202x.

All interested candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy / Petition of Nomination no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October xth, 202x.  Necessary forms and further information and instructions are in the 202x Nomination packet below.  

Candidates will be announced at the Board meeting on Thursday, October xxth, after which the names of the candidates will be posted on the YTID website. VOTING IN PERSON

Polls will be open on Tuesday, December xth, 202x from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the YTID Administrative office located at 470 Camp 4 Rd., Yakima, WA. 98908.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Any qualified district elector who certifies that he or she cannot be present to vote in person on N/A, may vote by absentee ballot per RCW 87.03.032. To receive an absentee ballot, a completed and signed request must be submitted. 

REQUEST FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT

ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS WILL BE FILLED AFTER BALLOTS HAVE BEEN PRINTED BY NOVEMBER xxST (18 days before the election date) THROUGH DECEMBER xTH, 202x. REQUESTED BALLOTS WILL BE SENT BY U.S. POSTAL SERVICE TO ELIGIBLE ELECTORS FROM WHOM COMPLETED AND SIGNED REQUEST FORMS ARE RECEIVED IN PERSON, BY MAIL, OR BY EMAIL TO HOOD@YTID.NET. ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL NOT BE ISSUED ON ELECTION DAY. SEE BELOW TO PRINT OFF AN ABSENTEE BALLOT  REQUEST FORM:

YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION MAKES NO GUARANTEE OF TIMELY MAIL DELIVERY AND RECOMMENDS THAT ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS BE MAILED OR DELIVERED TO YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION AT LEAST ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE OF THE ELECTION.

TO BE COUNTED, ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED TO YAKIMA TIETON IRRIGATION DISTRICT AS EXPLAINED IN THE SECTION BELOW.  

ELECTORS PLANNING TO CAST BALLOTS FOR A SPOUSE OR FOR A CORPORATION, GENERAL PARTNERSHIP, LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, LIMITED-LIABILITY CORPORATION OR OTHER LEGAL ENTITY SHOULD CONSULT RCW 87.03-051. THE FOLLOWING AUTHORIZATION FORMS CAN BE PRINTED, COMPLETED, SIGNED AND SUBMITTED WITH YOUR REQUEST FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT FORM, IF APPLICABLE:

• Authority to Vote for Corporation Entity

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS TO BE COUNTED

To be counted, absentee ballots must conform to statutory requirements and returned to the Yakima Tieton Irrigation District Administrative office no later than 8:00 p.m. on December x, 202x, or be postmarked no later than midnight on December x, 202x,  and received within seven days of that date. (RCW 87.03.033)

Those who have a Corporation or an LLC as legal entity for ownership will need to fill out and bring with you on election day an "Authority to Vote for Corporation/Entity" form.

Those who legally own a property with their spouse and wish to vote in place of their spouse, MUST complete and bring in on the day of the Election, the attached "Authority to Vote for spouse" form. Please contact the office if you have any questions regarding voting for your spouse.
