Overview:

The Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Treasurer/Accountant to join our front office team. This position supports the District's day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, budget reporting, financial recordkeeping, and audit preparation. The position works closely with the District Manager/Treasurer, external auditors, and contracted financial consultants to support the District's financial operations for accounting, auditing, and compliance matters.

This role is also an important part of the District's front office operations and will assist customers, process water payments, answer phones, and provide general administrative support as needed.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, customer-service oriented, and interested in developing their accounting and financial skills.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Experience & Training: The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and five years of professional level accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. (Note: Applicants with equivalent education and/or experience must provide a detailed explanation.)

Work is performed primarily in an office environment and involves prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and frequent interaction with customers, staff, consultants, and auditors. Sedentary work requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

Equipment Used: Computers, accounting and business software applications, mobile devices, multi-line telephone systems, copiers, scanners, calculators, and other standard office equipment.

Physical Demands: Requires sitting for extended periods, operating standard office equipment, standing, walking, reaching, lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally, speaking, hearing, seeing, driving, mobility, climbing, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling and repetitive hand and finger movements associated with computer use.
