Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District is currently accepting applications for:
Administrative Assistant/Accounting Clerk
$22-24/hr

Overview:
The Administrative Assistant/Accounting Clerk is part of a two-person, customer-facing, front office team that performs routine office and accounting support activities. This positions main responsibility is providing routine office support activities such as taking water payments, processing segregations, water transfers and name changes, processing accounts payable and receivable, and processing payroll.
Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant/Accounting Clerk is responsible for answering phones, processing water payments, including all changes to the assessment roll and water management CIS software (STORM), compiling turnout books and water orders, updating the District website, processing temporary transfers, extra water, segregations, and processing the District mail.
The Administrative Assistant/Accounting Clerk is also the District’s Notary Public and acts as the Board of Director’s clerk by attending all Board meetings, recording/reporting minutes, and all resolutions.
The Administrative Assistant/Accounting Clerk will support the Assistant Treasurer by performing the following duties: recording customer payments into accounting system, prepare vouchers, processing accounts payable, and assisting with semi-monthly payroll processing.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience & Training: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and three years of general office or accounting support or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. (Note: Applicants with equivalent education and/or experience must provide a detailed explanation.)
Required: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Preferred: Notary Public – District will assist with obtaining license
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
Knowledge of: basic knowledge of accounting theories and principles; laws and regulations governing irrigation districts helpful. Small and attractive asset accounting principles; basic mathematics; office practices; and customer service techniques.
Skill In: reviewing and verifying accounting information; accepting money and making change, attention to detail and accuracy are crucial; establishing effective interpersonal relationships; good communications both written and oral.
Equipment Used: computers and various related software applications, standard office equipment such as: computers, multi-line telephone, copiers, calculators and fax machines.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Work is in an office setting, will occasionally work outside of standard business hours as needed. May be exposed to confused and upset customers. Professionalism and patience are essential.
Physical Demands: require balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, mobility, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
