$31.25-36.06/hr

Overview:

The Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Treasurer/Accountant to join our front office team. This high visibility role is responsible for performing complex, professional-level accounting activities including payroll, accounts payable, investment monitoring, grant monitoring, budget facilitation, and ensures compliance with state auditor regulations. The position also supports routine office functions such as answering phones, dealing with customers, and processing water payments.

 

 Responsibilities:

This position will perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Experience & Training: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or education in Accounting, Finance or related field and five years of professional level accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. (Note: Applicants with equivalent education and/or experience must provide a detailed explanation.) 

Required:       Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

 

Preferred:      Bachelor’s degree in accounting

                             Experience in government-related accounting

                             Experience with external audits

                            Technical expertise in Microsoft office and accounting ERP systems.

 

Knowledge of: strong understanding of GAAP, governmental and fund accounting, and financial principles; ability to interpret laws, regulations, and policies; skilled in financial analysis, report preparation, and attention to detail; excellent interpersonal communication skills; and proficiency with computers, accounting software, and standard office equipment.

Skill In:  interpreting policies, procedures, laws and regulations; tracking fixed assets; tracking various contracts and agreements; tracking investments and cash flow and analyzing financial information; preparing sound financial recommendations; paying attention to detail and accuracy.

Equipment Used: computers and various related software applications, mobile devices, automobiles, standard office equipment such as computers, multi-line telephone, copiers, calculators and fax machines.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work: exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Office-based work during standard business times.

Physical Demands: requires driving, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, mobility, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
